Again, really pretty movie. It was an interesting exploration of breaking social boundaries and the unusual/inappropriate relationships that arise from that. If the story took place at a school setting, their character development couldn't have happened.

The villains because racist and anti-semitic caricatures pissed me off and Tima should've been brown. But I still really enjoyed this. We basically watched the life cycle of a girl until she is exploited. But the hubris of humanity did catch up to them.

I was a bit skeptical of how this manga could be adapted into animation but I was pleasantly surprised. Nausicaä is a subversion of a fantasy hero and is so charming. Her pacifistic nature helps you empathize with even the scariest or ugliest organisms. You can understand why she was Best Anime Girl 1984.
