Supernatural Anime
Director: Hiroshi Nagahama
Mangaka(Source Material): Yuki Urushibara
Finished: Feb 25

This show was interesting. Whether you should coexist with or kill nature that scares or disgusts us is a point of contention.

Games

Minecraft (2011)
Your Mother Disgusts Me (2025) (Demo)
Horror Visual Novel
Made by: @sirizchai on Twitter, itch.io

Filled me with dread and anxiety. It explores the abusive aspects of mother-daughter incest. The characters are written so well. Evie </3 :((

Books

Love's Miracle (1994) (Ch 1-22)
Drama Manga
Mangaka: Morita Yuko
Finished: Jan 12
0.5/5

Evil energy exudes off this.
The Rows of Cherry Trees (1957)
Drama Manga
Mangaka: Macoto Takahashi
Finished: Jan 13
2.5/5

Extremely neutral about this one. It's a GL.
Glass Mask (1976) (Ch 1-37)
Drama Manga
Mangaka: Suzue Miuchi
Finished: Jan
4/5

I adore the main character, Maya. I just love clever characters who are really intense about their special interest. I'm excited to see more of her (gay) rivalry with Ayumi.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1982) (Ch 1)
Sci-Fi Manga
Mangaka: Hayao Miyazaki
Finished: Feb 11
4/5

This manga is beautiful and also incredibly dense. It's sometimes difficult to make out the scene. But I still love the story and Nausicaä.
Night on the Galactic Railroad (1934)
Children's Novel
Author: Kenji Miyazawa
Finished: Mar 13
2.5/5

I don't have many thoughts on this.
Digital Minimalism (2019)
Self-Help Book
Author: Cal Newport
Finished: Mar 25
3/5

Helpful but drags on at times.

Movies

Voices of a Distant Star (2002)
Sci-Fi Anime Film
Director: Makoto Shinkai
Finished: Jan 21
3.5/5

This movie is so impressive because it was all made by one guy and it's his first ever movie. It's pretty and I like the themes but wasn't my favorite.
The Garden of Words (2013)
Drama Anime Film
Director: Makoto Shinkai
Finished: Jan 28
4/5

Again, really pretty movie. It was an interesting exploration of breaking social boundaries and the unusual/inappropriate relationships that arise from that. If the story took place at a school setting, their character development couldn't have happened.
Metropolis (2001)
Sci-Fi Anime Film
Director: Rintaro
Mangaka(Source Material): Osamu Tezuka
Finished: Feb 4
4.5/5

The villains being racist and anti-semitic caricatures pissed me off and Tima should've been brown. But I still really enjoyed this. We basically watched the life cycle of a girl until she is exploited for her God-like powers. But the hubris of humanity did catch up to them.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
Sci-Fi Anime Film
Mangaka & Director: Hayao Miyazaki
Finished: Feb 11
4.5/5

I was a bit skeptical of how this manga could be adapted into animation but I was pleasantly surprised. Nausicaä is a subversion of a fantasy hero and is so charming. Her pacifistic nature helps you empathize with even the scariest or ugliest organisms. You can understand why she was Best Anime Girl 1984.
Giovanni's Island (2014)
Historical Drama Anime Film
Director: Mizuho Nishikubo
Finished: Mar 13
3/5

Propaganda to make me like white people. It's not working!! Ending still made me cry though. The similarities in themes with the novel, Night on the Galactic Railroad, were fun to analyze. I also really liked the art style.
Violet Evergarden: Recollections (2021)
Coming-of-Age Anime Film
Studio: Kyoto Animation
Finished: Mar 25
4/5

I really enjoyed Violet Evergarden (the character). She's sooo cute and also relatable. I do wish I hadn't watched the Recollections and just watched the show though. I think it messed with the pacing. I'll watch the show soon...
