Digital Minimalism Follow-Up & Genshin Impact

May 18, 2026

Haii! I realized I never did an official blog post on how digital minimalism and the digital declutter go for me.

I'd say for the most part it did make me realize how much I didn't really use most social media outside of Twitter. But I don't think I really missed Twitter?

I would occasionally post on it for self promo reasons and each time I opened it I would glance at my timeline and see mutuals going to war over something. I guess constant discourse was something I didn't really miss but I already block liberally.

Now YouTube? I really missed Youtube . I was so bored while eating but like what did I even do during lunch time in elementary school before anyone had phones?? I feel like I need to rebuild my attention span or be used to being bored for once.

Anyways, I'm glad YouTube is back but I will try my best to not watch mindlessly. I'm not really glad Twitter is back but that's where my friends are.

Anyways! Time to talk about Genshin Impact. I made this page for where I will post my writings and whatnot in the "rambles" section. nahida eating aranara bread
The Genshin brainrot hit stronger recently since I've been making my partner play the archon quest. But I also made a list of lore relevant stuff that you shouldn't miss in Inazuma before moving onto Sumeru, that's when I really got into it again. things to do screenshot
I specifically wanted to write about the portrayal of Japanese indigenous peoples in Inazuma because I thought that was... interesting. Genshin being offensive to minorities, fork found in kitchen. But it's extra weird because for a game whose main villains are the Fatui and the Inazuma Shogunate (in AQ Chapter II), which are both imperialists, the writers are very anti-revolution.

Another thing I include in the "stuff you shouldn't miss" document is Ashikai's videos. She makes really good theory, recap, and analysis videos and while she isn't right 100% of the time, the research she brings up is still super helpful.

I do think (no offense to Ashikai) that she might be too white to talk about the colonialism that Genshin criticizes. Not that she's not allowed to talk about it, but more like, that isn't her first thought when looking through the lore. But this is Genshin Pick-your-fave-colonizer Impact. the 11 fatui harbingers
I think the main issue is that Genshin shows textbook portrayal of genocide and marginalization of people but always 'both sides' the conflict or has to be like "okay but don't get too radical, guys." Not sure how much of this is the Hoyoverse writers or the Chinese government.

Anyways, I guess that's all I have to say!! Gootbye!
